Torre after relief from post as PNP chief: Thank you for your support

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Nicolas Torre III made his first Facebook post after he was removed from his post as the head of the police organization on Tuesday.

“Salamat po sa suporta nyo (Thank you for your support)!” Torre said in his verified Facebook account

The ex-PNP chief wrote the caption as he shared a post of a fan page dedicated to him.

“Sa bawat laban-sa ring man o sa serbisyo-ang tagumpay ay laging para sa taumbayan. Ang lakas at tapang ni Chief Torre ay para sa kapakanan ng bawat Pilipino. Dahil ang tunay na tagumpay ay ang patuloy na paglilingkod sa bayan,” the Facebook fan page Chief Torre, The People's General said.

(In every fight—whether in the ring or in service—victory is always for the people. Chief Torre's strength and courage are for the benefit of every Filipino. Because true victory is in continuing to serve the people,” the Facebook fan page Chief Torre, The People's General said.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Tuesday announced that Torre had been relieved from his post as PNP chief effective immediately.

Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. was named officer-in-charge in his place.

Just two months and three weeks ago on June 2, Torre took over as the 31st PNP chief.

He became the first alumnus of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to lead the police organization.

Torre would have had around one year and seven months left to serve as the PNP chief before reaching the retirement age on March 11, 2027.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Tuesday said one of the reasons Torre was relieved as PNP chief was his defiance to an order of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) on the reassignment of key officials.

However, Remulla said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is considering Torre for a government position—KG, GMA Integrated News
