SC appoints Sandiganbayan justice as new court administrator
The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday said that it has appointed Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Ma. Theresa Dolores Gomez-Estoesta as Court administrator.
Gomez-Estoesta replaced Raul Villanueva, who was recently appointed associate justice following the retirement of Associate Justice Mario Lopez.
According to the High Court, Gomez-Estoesta began her 34-year long career in public service as a solicitor at the Office of the Solicitor General from 1991 to 2002.
She served as a presiding judge of the Metropolitan Trial Court in Manila as well as the Manila Regional Trial Court. She was later appointed as chairperson of the Sandiganbayan Seventh Division.
The SC said she has received Most Outstanding Judge for First-Level Courts, Best Decision in Criminal Cases Awards, and the Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano Award as Most
Outstanding Judge for Second-Level Courts.
Gomez-Estoesta earned her law degree from Ateneo and passed the Bar Exams in 1991.
The Office of the Court Administrator was “created to assist the Supreme Court primarily in the exercise of administrative supervision over all courts.” — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ/BM, GMA Integrated News
