PHLPost suspends acceptance of mail, parcels bound for US

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) on Tuesday announced that it has suspended the acceptance of all mail and parcels bound for the United States until further notice.

The suspension, which covers all postal items to the US accepted as of August 22, 2025, took effect on August 28.

This came after the US ended the de minimis exemption that allowed low-value commercial shipments to be shipped to the US without facing tariffs.

Under an executive order signed by President Donald Trump, packages valued at or under $800 sent to the US outside of the international postal network will now face "all applicable duties" starting on August 29, the White House said on July 30.

Also, the suspension was implemented due to new customs requirements designed to minimize customer inconvenience and service delays.

“For items already lodged, customers may request retrieval and refund in accordance with existing guidelines by submitting the required documents,” PHLPost said. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/VBL, GMA Integrated News
