DTI’s Roque names CIAP, PCAB acting heads
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque has appointed acting heads of the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) and the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB), which she earlier placed under her direct supervision amid the flood control projects controversy.
In a statement on Saturday, Roque announced that she appointed Doris Gacho and Engr. Sergie Retome as acting executive directors of the CIAP and the PCAB, respectively.
The Trade chief said the designation of Gacho and Retome is "part of the ongoing efforts to clean up and revamp both agencies.”
The acting heads will temporarily manage the CIAP and PCAB until permanent replacements are appointed following Civil Service Commission (CSC) rules and procedures.
“This will ensure continuity of operations during the revamp,” said Roque.
Roque earlier announced that PCAB executive director Herbert Matienzo had resigned for “personal reasons.”
She said that she is also in the process of recommending new members to the PCAB Board, from whom President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will select the final board members.
Roque also announced the establishment of an Oversight and Fact-Finding Management Team within the DTI.
The specialized team will coordinate investigations, responses, communications, and recovery efforts related to issues like the current PCAB licensing concerns, according to the Trade chief, adding that “the initiative aims to uphold due process, transparency, accountability, and good governance.”
“This mechanism will safeguard public interest, ensure accountability, and maintain stakeholder confidence,” said Roque. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
