Relic of soon-to-be saint Carlo Acutis to visit PH
A relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who was slated to become the first millennial saint of the Catholic Church, will be in the Philippines from November 28 to December 15.
A section of Acutis' pericardium, a fibrous sac that protects the heart, will be sent to the Philippines, a report by CBCP News said Saturday.
The relic’s visit, confirmed by Acutis' home diocese of Assisi–Nocera Umbra–Gualdo Tadino, will be handled by and entrusted to the Friends of Blessed Carlo Acutis Philippines.
“This historic visit is a moment of renewal and celebration for the Filipino Church, especially for our youth and families, who are invited to encounter the witness of the young saint who reminds us that the Eucharist is truly our ‘highway to Heaven,’” the group said.
The pilgrimage will be under the episcopal guidance of Bishop Dennis Villarojo of Malolos.
Acutis, known for his use of technology to promote the faith, is poised to become the first millennial saint with his canonization on Sunday. He died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
