DISCAYA SAYS NO SENATOR INVOLVED

Jinggoy Estrada resents Marcoleta's you're safe remark

Senator Jinggoy Estrada expressed resentment Monday over the remark of Blue Ribbon committee chair Senator Rodante Marcoleta on the statement of Curlee Discaya that he had no dealings with any senator over the flood control projects.

During the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing, Estrada asked Discaya if there were any senators involved in the supposed anomalous infrastructure projects following their revelation.

"Sa dinami-rami mong binanggit na kongresista, isa lang ang tanong ko. Senador meron ba (You mentioned a number of congressmen, I have one question. Is there a senator involved)?" Estrada asked, to which Discaya replied: "Wala po (none)."

Marcoleta then told Estrada: "Safe ka na (You're safe)."

Estrada initially laughed but said he resented the statement and asked Marcoleta to remove it from the Senate records.

"I request that you strike off the record your statement, Mr. Chair," said Estrada, to which Marcoleta replied that he was just joking.

"Alam mo naman na biro lang 'yun. Wala 'yun (You know that I am only joking. That meant nothing)," Marcoleta added.

At the start of the hearing, Marcoleta also poked fun at Estrada calling him the bad one in contrast to his brother Senator JV Ejercito who used the slogan the "Good One."

"Let me acknowledge the presence of senators...Senator JV Ejercito who came at 8:40 a.m., Senator JV Ejercito, the good one. Senator Jinggoy Estrada, the bad one, who came at 9:09 a.m.," the Blue Ribbon chair said which made those in the plenary laugh.

Earlier in the hearing, the Discaya couple disclosed the names of several congressmen, their staff, and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways who were allegedly involved in corruption in the country’s flood control projects. —Sundy Locus/AOL, GMA Integrated News
