Over 100 anomalous projects reported to DPWH in a week — Dizon
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has received over 100 reports of suspected anomalous projects across the country following the probe into flood control programs.
“Isang linggo pa lang ang nakalipas since napasabak tayo dito. Mahigit isang daan na ang proyektong nire-report sa akin all over the country. Pero kailangan isa-isahin natin ito,” DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon told Unang Hirit in an interview Tuesday.
(It’s only been a week since we started here. There are over a hundred projects reported to me all over the country. But we need to look into them one by one.)
Dizon said that in his many years serving in the government, this is the first time he encountered a department this chaotic.
Talagang napaka-overwhelming,” Dizon said.
(In all my time in the government, in and out of government, I have only seen an agency in such chaos this time. I don’t understand what the system is, what the process is. It’s really overwhelming.)
“It needs to be systemic change.
(It needs to be systemic change. It’s not just filing a case, that, let’s take responsibility for this, let’s get rid of this. It’s a long process. It’s not quick, it’s not overnight. The system has been evolving there for decades. But slowly, we need to fix the system.) — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
