Sarah Discaya, contractor skip House hearing on flood control projects

Contractor Sarah Discaya skipped on Tuesday the House Infrastructure Committee (InfraComm) inquiry into the alleged anomalous flood control projects due to her medical condition.

According to her husband Pacifico "Curlee" Discaya, Sarah opted to stay at home as she suffered from palpitations and low insulin level caused by stress.

“Ngayon po nagpa-palpitate ang puso niya at bumaba ang insulin niya dahil sa mga nangayayari. Siyempre po nag-aalala siya sa kanyang buhay,” Curlee said during the hearing

(She is suffering from palpitations and decreased insulin levels due to what is happening. She is worried about her safety.)

“Inaalagaan rin po niya ang apat naming anak dahil ang anak namin ay suffering,” he added.

(She is also taking care of our four children because they are also suffering.)

The House panel did not receive any excuse letter from the Discaya couple.

Last Saturday, House InfraComm co-chairperson and Bicol Saro Party-list Representative Terry Ridon said the panel's September 9 hearing will focus on the nitty-gritty of Sarah Discaya’s companies which bagged billions of pesos worth of government contracts.

Sarah Discaya earlier admitted owning nine construction firms that bid against each other for the same government projects.

Meanwhile, Mark Allan Villamor Arevalo of the Wawao Builders Corp. also skipped the House hearing due to medical issue. He was represented by his legal representative. —KG, GMA Integrated News
