DPWH Bulacan Engineer JP Mendoza bares death threats
A Department of Public Works and Highways engineer on Tuesday disclosed receiving death threats amid his alleged link to the supposed anomalous flood control projects.
At the ongoing House Infrastructure Committee (InfraComm) hearing, DPWH Bulacan 1st District Assistant Engineer JP Mendoza reiterated his request for security, saying he received a threatening message from a certain “hitman” on September 1.
“Last September 1, may nag-message na sakin sa Viber, ang naka-name…ay ‘hitman’. Ngayon bago ako magsalita, tumatawag na naman siya,” Mendoza told the House committee.
(I received a Viber message from a certain hitman on September 1. Earlier, he was calling before I testified.)
“Sana 'yung ina-ask ko na security ay ASAP na po sana,” he said.
(I am requesting for the swift deployment of our security detail.)
Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Teddy Ridon, committee chairperson, committed to providing security for Mendoza.
“We are stating for the record that Mr. Mendoza is receiving threats to his life and that is something the committee is taking seriously,” Ridon said.
Mendoza and former Bulacan 1st district assistant engineer Brice Ericson Hernandez earlier presented photos of alleged conversations between Senator Joel Villanueva and dismissed DPWH district engineer Henry Alcantara on the flood control projects to the House panel.
Hernandez also said some senators were involved in the said projects including Villanueva and Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
Estrada denied the allegations. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
