Marcos: No politicians in independent commission on flood projects

There will be no politicians in the independent commission that will investigate anomalies in flood control projects, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters in Cambodia, Marcos assured that the body would have full independence.

"We have made very sure that they are in fact independent, truly independent. So, walang pulitiko diyan, walang (No politician there)… Puro imbestigador, abogado, para mga (They're all investigators and lawyers)… It's a technical—, it's a technical exercise," Marcos said.

Marcos also said the powers and composition of the independent commission would be disclosed in the next 48 hours. He added there was a suggestion that the body be given contempt powers, aside from subpoena powers.

The President, who was in Cambodia for a state visit, earlier said an executive order (EO) would be issued creating an independent commission that will investigate substandard, if not "ghost" or non-existent, flood control projects. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
