Marcos denies Imee’s claim Ombudsman push for Remulla a plot vs VP Sara
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. denied the claim of his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, that the application of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla to be the next Ombudsman is being pushed to "jail" Vice President Sara Duterte and her allies.
“No, this is because we have to appoint an Ombudsman,” Marcos said in an episode of the BBM Podcast.
“Titingnan natin kung ano ‘yung recommendation, ano ‘yung findings, etcetera, and then the decision will be made,” he added.
(We will look at the recommendation and the findings, and then the decision will be made.)
He said he has not made a decision yet on who will be the next Ombudsman.
Earlier, Imee said she would be filing an opposition against the application of Remulla to be the country's next Ombudsman, noting that the latter was clearly disqualified for the post.
This, as she believes that Remulla is being pushed in the position to jail Sara and her allies by 2028.
"There is a very ominous reason, clearly for Secretary Boying to become the next Ombudsman. It's the new face in the effort to get rid of VP Sara before 2028. And since the PI failed, the impeachment failed, therefore, the third attempt is lawfare at its very worst. Imprison Inday Sara, all the Duterte allies, including myself perhaps, to be harassed by cases with a new Ombudsman," Senator Imee said earlier this month.
Remulla, meanwhile, said he will file a motion asking the Office of the Ombudsman to resolve the complaint filed against him and others by Senator Marcos over the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
The interviews by the Judicial and Bar Council were conducted from August 28 to September 2.
The appointed official will replace former Ombudsman Samuel Martires, whose term expired on July 27. They will serve a fixed term of seven years without reappointment.
The Office of the Ombudsman handles the complaints filed against high-ranking government officials and those occupying supervisory positions, complaints involving grave offenses, as well as complaints involving large sums of money and/or properties. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
