Erice: Independent flood projects commission should spare no one

The independent commission that will investigate allegedly anomalous infrastructure projects should look into everyone implicated, no matter their position, House Senior Deputy Minority Leader Edgar Erice urged Wednesday.

"Kailangang maresolba ito. Kailangang may managot. At dapat walang santuhin—senador, congressman, DPWH. Dapat talaga masusing maimbestigahan at maparusahan kung sinuman yung may pakana ng napakalaking anomalya na ito," he said.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. earlier announced that an independent commission will be formed to investigate the flood control projects. He also said that the lineup will not include any politicians.

Erice agreed with this. "Dapat po walang pulitiko sa independent commission. Para sa ganoon, walang bahid ng pulitika. He can be a witness but not an investigator," he said when asked by media for his reaction if Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong were to be appointed.

Magalong had alleged that some members of Congress were involved in the questionable projects.

"Talaga namang nakita natin na siguro dapat ipagpatuloy talaga ng pangulo ang kanyang independent commission dahil nakita natin na napakalaking naomalya ito, by the hundreds of millions," Erice said. — BM, GMA Integrated News
