Gabriela's Elago to take 64th House party-list seat

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) confirmed on Sunday that Gabriela party-list Representative Sarah Elago will assume the 64th seat in the House of Representatives.

Super Radyo dzBB Manny Vargas reported that Comelec said Elago may be officially proclaimed on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the House raised no objections after being informed by the Comelec.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez will administer Elago’s oath.

In a Viber message, Comelec chair George Garcia said the poll body will release a resolution on Elago's proclamation on Wednesday.

Comelec earlier said it will proclaim an additional seat for the party-lists, rounding up the number of winning seats to 64 in the 20th Congress.

The recomputation of the seat allocation came after the Philreca Party-list filed a motion suggesting that the correct allocation of party-list seats must be 64. The poll body then recognized the motion. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
