VP Sara Duterte attends Peñafrancia Festival
Vice President Sara Duterte visited Naga City in Camarines Sur on Sunday to attend the Peñafrancia Festival, the country's biggest Marian celebration.
Duterte went to the Metropolitan Cathedral and joined devotees in the procession.
The Peñafrancia Festival's Marian Processions honor Our Lady of Peñafrancia, known as Ina, with a grand Traslacion or foot procession and the iconic fluvial procession.
Duterte also participated in the "pagmamanto," where devotees pray over an individual covered by the mantle or cape worn by the miraculous image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
The ritual is done with faith, invoking the intercession of the Virgin Mary for healing and protection, according to the Naga local tourism office.
The Vice President also visited the Porta Maria Museum before leaving the city.
Earlier this week, the Office of the Vice President announced that Duterte will travel to the Bicol region in time for the festival. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
