DOTr: Libreng Sakay to be offered during September 17-19 transport strikes
Free rides will be offered to affected passengers during the transport strike to be staged by groups Piston and Manibela from Wednesday to Friday, the Department of Transportation said on Tuesday.
DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Ports Authority, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, among others will offer free rides.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board was also tasked to identify possible affected routes during the strikes.
Manibela earlier announced a transport strike from Wednesday to Friday as protest against excise tax on fuel products and corruption in the government.
Piston’s strike is set only on Thursday to protest value-added tax, excise tax on fuel products, as well as the corruption in the government. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
