Mirasol spawns floods in several parts of Luzon, Mindanao

Several areas in Luzon and Mindanao experienced flooding due to the rains brought by Tropical Depression Mirasol that also strengthened the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

According to Bernadette Reyes’s Wednesday report on “24 Oras,” residents of Casiguran, Aurora, where Mirasol made landfall, experienced strong winds and rainfall early in the morning, which resulted in a loss of power supply.

The weather disturbance caused 100 houses to be submerged in up to waist-level floodwater.

Motorists were also challenged by flood-stricken roads.

In Teresa, Rizal, sandbag barriers failed to stop floodwater from entering a public market.

Other parts of Teresa and Morong, Rizal were also hit by fast flood currents.

Residents of Isabela, where Signal No. 1 is hoisted, endured strong gusts of wind and downpour.

A bridge in Echague, Isabela was temporarily closed as the river overflowed. Motorists were advised to take alternative routes.

In Naga, Camarines Sur, motorists were challenged in traversing some roads due to the rain caused by the Habagat.

Some areas in Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat and Tantangan, South Cotabato were also struck by floods.

Meanwhile, the Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur municipal hall was surrounded by floodwater after a heavy rainfall. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
