Brice Hernandez denies using fake driver's license to enter casino
Former Bulacan first district assistant engineer Brice Hernandez on Thursday denied the use and possession of a fake driver's license to enter casino, saying his membership was prepared for him.
During the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing, Hernandez denied any knowledge of a driver’s license bearing his photo under an alias of “Marvin de Guzman.”
“Nagulat din po ako na may ganyang lumalabas na ID… Your Honor, hindi po talaga ako nagpagawa ng ganyang ID,” Hernandez said.
(I was shocked that this kind of ID has appeared… Your Honor, I really didn’t have it made.)
When questioned about his entry to a casino in Parañaque City, he said that he only used a membership number under the alias.
“Wala po akong ID sa casino, membership number [lang] po. Pag merong membership number na sasabihin mo doon, makakapaglaro na po… Nakapangalan po sa Marvin de Guzman [ang membership]… Pero membership ID saka license, wala po akong ganoon na Marvin de Guzman,” he said.
(I didn’t have an ID in the casino, [just] a membership number. If you have a membership number that, then you can play… [The membership] is named under the name Marvin de Guzman… But I didn't have a membership ID and license under Marvin De Guzman.)
Hernandez confirmed and admitted to entering and playing inside the casino in 2022.
He also said that a “Mike Archibal” had registered his membership for him, which he initially didn’t know was under the name of “Marvin de Guzman.”
“Kung di ako nagkakamali, isang taga-Solaire po [ang nag-ayos ng membership]. Hindi po ako… Nung pumasok po ako, wala po kaming membership. Si Mike po ang nag-ayos ng membership na ‘yun. Hindi po kami,” he added.
(If I’m not mistaken, it was someone from Solaire [who prepared the membership]. Not me… When I entered, we didn’t have membership. Mike was the one who fixed that membership. Not us.)
Meanwhile, Lacson warned Hernandez that he was providing contradicting statements.
“Okada na [itong] sumulat sa amin… ‘Brice Ericson Hernandez registered for OM Membership on October 17 under the name of Marvin Santos de Guzman and presented a driver’s license under the said name of Marvin Santos de Guzman.’ Sinungaling din ang Okada?” asked Lacson.
([It is] Okada who wrote to us… ‘Brice Ericson Hernandez registered for OM Membership on October 17 under the name of Marvin Santos de Guzman and presented a driver’s license under the said name of Marvin Santos de Guzman.’ Is Okada lying too?)
“You’re being confronted with all these documents, all these proofs, tapos you keep denying. And then you had the gall to ask for legislative immunity?... You better compose yourself kasi pabali-baliktad ang sinasabi mo. Walang maniniwala sayo pag ganiyan 'yung mga statement mo, (You better compose yourself because your statements are contradicting. No one will believe you if your statements are like that.)
“You can still redeem yourself… I’m giving you one last chance. I’m telling you, I told you this earlier, remember? Nadiin ka dito. 'Wag ka lulusot samin. Ang dami namin dito na pwede mag-fact check sa'yo (You are being pressed here. You cannot escape from us. There are many of us here who can fact-check you),” Lacson added.
Hernandez had earlier been granted legislative immunity by the Senate blue ribbon committee to narrate how engineers “shared” profits from DPWH ghost projects in Bulacan.
Earlier, former Bulacan 1st district engineer Henry Alcantara admitted that he had entered a casino using a fake ID and alias, and that he had been accompanied by Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
