Marcos confident with Dizon's work: He can deliver

SAN FERNANDO CITY — President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Friday expressed confidence anew to Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon in leading the controversy-marred agency.

In an event in Pampanga, Marcos opened his remarks by greeting Cabinet secretaries, where he mentioned Dizon, saying that he's left with issues which he needs to address. However, he is positive that Dizon can fix these issues.

''Batiin po natin ang mga kalihim ng mga iba’t ibang departamento ng Gabinete. Nandito po ang Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon, na sa kasalukuyan – o matamlay ‘yung palakpak kasi DPWH eh, kaya… Pero kayang-kaya niya. Marami tayong – maraming naiwan na problema na ngayon kailangan niyang ayusin,'' Marcos said.

(Let us greet our Cabinet secretaries. DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon is here, oh the applause is not that loud because it's DPWH. But, he can do that. There's a lot of problem that needs to be addressed.)

''Pero siguro sa pagkakilala natin sa ating Secretary ay kayang-kaya niyang ayusin lahat ‘yan. Pagmasdan ninyo. Tulungan niyo po siya dahil marami siyang kailangang gawin,'' he added.

(But as we all know, our Secretary can fix this. You can observe. Let's help him because he needs to do a lot of things.)

Dizon replaced Manuel Bonoan as secretary of the DPWH amid allegations of corruption and irregularities in flood control projects.

Upon assuming leadership, Dizon has been inspecting flood control projects, dismissing and filing complaints against personnel who are allegedly involved in corrupt practices.

During a recent hearing of the Senate blue ribbon committee, Dizon told senators that losses from anomalous flood control projects could reach up to the trillions of pesos.

He also expressed belief that “ghost and very substandard” flood control projects are scattered across the country. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
