No threats monitored so far at People Power Monument — police

No threats have been monitored so far for the September 21 protest rally at the People Power Monument, according to Quezon City Police District spokesperson Police Major Jennifer Gannaban on Sunday morning.

“So far, as of this time, wala pa naman po. Maayos pa rin po dahil nakipagdiyalogo tayo sa iba’t-ibang grupo, yung mga leaders nila sa mga nakaraang araw,” she told reporters.

(So far as of this time, there is none. The situation here remains okay since we held dialogues with various groups and leaders the past days.)

Around 2,200 cops have been deployed at People Power Monument and EDSA Shrine.

The rally on EDSA was dubbed as “Trillion Peso March.”

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has been on full alert since Saturday to secure the conduct of the September 21 rallies.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), around 50,000 police personnel have been deployed who will observe maximum tolerance to protesters.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has called for an investigation into anomalous flood control projects as many parts of the country have been submerged amid heavy rains in the past months.

The Senate and the House of Representatives have launched their respective investigations.

Some flood control projects were found to be ghost projects.

Several protests started to break out as the public called out the luxurious lifestyle of government contractors and officials involved—including their families—on social media.

These numerous protests lead to one big protest action on September 21.

Aside from People Power Monument, another protest action dubbed as “Baha sa Luneta: Aksyon Na Laban sa Korapsyon!” will be conducted at Luneta Park in Manila on Sunday. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
