Kiko Barzaga puts Sandro Marcos on the spot on sidelines of budget deliberations

Cavite Rep. Kiko Barzaga on Wednesday cut into a discussion among lawmakers on the sidelines of the budget debates in plenary to ask Majority Floor Leader Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos about Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, who was replaced recently as Speaker.

In a video posted on his Facebook, Barzaga greeted Sandro good afternoon before saying, “Kumusta na ‘yung kaso ng Tito Romualdez mo?”

(How’s the case of your Uncle Romualdez?)

Sandro replied good afternoon but no longer addressed Barzaga after.

Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin was then seen on the video.

“Huwag ganyan, boss,” Garin was heard saying.

(Don’t be like that, boss.)

“Nagagalit na si Rep. Garin,” Barzaga was also heard as saying.

“He’s there again, making noises. We would understand if it's related to the budget being discussed or if it is about an advocacy for public good. He is allowed to interpellate (field questions) because that is our job,” Garin later told reporters.

“But he is saying words...foul words to our members, when there is a serious job at hand. He was poking his phone on my face. So I said, huwag ganyan. Anybody would have done the same if the phone was shoved on your face,” she added.

Garin said Barzaga interrupted the conversation between House members wherein they were discussing the queue of lawmakers set to ask questions on the proposed budget of the Justice department.

“In that situation, you don’t disrupt the members of Congress who are working,” Garin said.

“We repeatedly told him, when interpellation is ongoing, he can’t be noisy because House members are listening to the discussions,” she added.

Garin, however, said Barzaga later apologized for causing a scene.

“He apologized to me, saying sorry, sorry, sorry. Meow ng meow. I told him, keep quiet,” Garin said.
