Performance-based bonuses for DepEd workers, teachers all set for release this year — DBM
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Thursday confirmed that the Fiscal Year 2023 performance-based bonus (PBB) of personnel under the Department of Education (DepEd), including teachers, are set to be released this year pending a resolution formalizing the grant of the benefit.
“Masaya po akong ibalita para sa ating mga kasamahan sa DepEd, lalo na sa ating mga guro, na matapos ang masusing deliberasyon, sila po ay napatunayang eligible para matanggap ang kanilang performance-based bonus para sa taong 2023,” Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said in a statement.
(I am glad to announce to our colleagues in the DepEd, especially our teachers, that they are eligible to receive their performance-based bonus for the year 2023.)
“Ito po ay alinsunod sa mandato ng ating Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na kilalain ang kanilang ambag, sipag, at dedikasyon upang itaguyod ang pagpapalakas ng sistema ng edukasyon sa ating bansa,” Pangandaman said.
(This is in line with the mandate of President Bongbong Marcos to recognize their contribution, hardworking work, and dedication to strengthening the education system in our country.)
During the plenary deliberations on House Bill No. 4058 or the General Appropriations Bill (GAB), the DBM, through House Committee on Appropriations Chair Mikaela Angela Suansing, confirmed that the Technical Working Group on Executive Order No. 61 is scheduled to meet next week, tentatively on September 30, 2025, to formally issue a resolution declaring DepEd eligible for the grant of the 2023 PBB.
"They will have a Technical Working Group meeting on September 30, during which, they will finalize this and they will come up with a resolution formalizing that fact – that the teachers are indeed eligible for the Performance-Based Bonus," said Suansing.
Budget Undersecretary Goddess Libiran confirmed in a Viber group message that the agency’s TWG is set to convene on September 30 to determine the amount of funds needed for the granting of DepEd workers’ 2023 PBB.
Memorandum Circular No. 2023-1 states that to be eligible for the grant of the FY 2023 PBB, each agency must satisfy the criteria and conditions under the four dimensions of accountability, namely Performance Results, Process Results, Financial Results, and Citizen/Client Satisfaction Results and “attain a total score of at least 70 points.”
“Kung wala sila [ating mga guro], wala rin tayo, kaya dapat lang po na patuloy natin silang bigyan ng motivation at nararapat na benepisyo," said Pangandaman.
(Without them, we won’t be here, that’s why we should continue to give them motivation and the benefits they deserve.)
The Budget Department earlier approved the release of P1.64 billion for the payment of the 2023 PBB of 110,688 qualified officials and employees of the Philippines Army. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
