Bong Revilla denies Bernardo allegations, vows to cooperate with official inquiry

Bong Revilla Roberto Bernardo flood control projects

Former senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. on Thursday denied the allegation by former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undersecretary Roberto Bernardo that he received 25% worth of commissions off flood control projects.

In a statement, law firm Divina Law said that the allegations against the former senator were “absolutely untrue.”

“Mr. Revilla welcomes and is fully prepared to cooperate with any official inquiry or legal process to shed light on the truth. It is not in his character to shy away, hide from, or evade challenges,” the law firm said.

“Mr. Revilla is one with the public in demanding accountability. He will not allow sinister forces to use his good name to thwart that end. He will face this head-on,” it added.

Bernardo claimed during Thursday’s Senate blue ribbon committee hearing that he gave Revilla a list of projects in 2024.

“Senator Revilla asked for a commitment which I suggested and he then approved at 25% of the total amount of the projects indicated in the list,” he said.

He said dismissed Bulacan first district engineer Henry Alcantara then collected the 25% commitment or about P125 million. He added this was delivered to him and delivered to Revilla in his house in Cavite.

Other personalities implicated by Bernardo were Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero, former senators Nancy Binay, and Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co.

Escudero and Binay both have denied the allegations. –NB, GMA Integrated News
