Transmission lines down due to Opong
Some transmission lines were rendered unavailable amid strong winds and heavy rains brought by Severe Tropical Storm Opong.
In its situation update as of 9 a.m., Friday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the following transmission lines were unavailable:
Calbayog-Allen 69kV Line
- Date/Time Out: September 26, 2025 / 1:43 a.m.
- Customer Affected: NORSAMELCO, SAMELCO I
Paranas-Quinapondan 69kV LINE
- Date/Time Out: September 26, 2025 / 12:51 a.m.
- Customer Affected: ESAMELCO
Calbayog-Bliss 69kV Line
- Date/Time Out: September 26, 2025 / 2:31 a.m.
- Customer Affected: SAMELCO I
Amlan-Siaton 69kV Line
- Date/Time Out: September 26, 2025 / 6:35 a.m.
- Customer Affected: NORECO II
“Inspection and restoration of lines in the affected areas will be in full swing once the weather allows,” NGCP said.
“Please note that loss of power may be caused by affected transmission facilities of NGCP or distribution facilities of local distribution utilities or electric cooperatives,” the grid operator said.
The company said that specific cities and municipalities affected by the power interruptions are determined by concerned distribution utilities, “unless the outage affects the entire franchise area.” —AOL, GMA Integrated News
