Chinese envoy Huang to VP Sara: Hope our bilateral relations will get back to a sound and healthy track

Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian on Friday expressed gratitude to Vice President Sara Duterte for her support and dedication to the friendship between Philippines and China.

As the Chinese envoy concluded his tour of duty in the Philippines after nearly six years, he posted a photo on Facebook of himself shaking hands with Duterte.

“At this moment of parting, I bid farewell to VP Sara Duterte. Madam Vice President, thank you for your support and dedication to China-Philippines friendship. Hope our bilateral relations will get back to a sound and healthy track soon,” Huang said in the caption.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday bid goodbye to Huang during his farewell call at Malacañang Palace.

The Philippine leader then said that it was unfortunate that there had been little progress regarding the issue in the South China Sea.

''But I think, considering how difficult the situation was, that we have managed to keep things at least away from too much problem,'' Marcos said.

Huang on Thursday also posted a photo with Marcos, saying that he hopes that the China-Philippines relations “will get back on the right track at an early date.”

“Mr. President, I agree with you that we must not allow the maritime differences to define our relationship and should pursue diplomacy, maintain communication and avoid escalation. Friendly neighborliness serves the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples,” Huang said.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
