Senate panel swiftly OK’s OVP’s proposed 2026 budget
A Senate finance subcommittee on Monday approved the proposed P902.895 million budget of the Office of the Vice President for fiscal year 2026 in less than an hour.
Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri made the motion to extend parliamentary courtesy to the OVP, saying that its 2026 proposed budget was already “lean and mean.”
This was seconded by Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa after several other senators expressed their manifestation of support for the OVP’s budget.
Senate finance committee chairman Sherwin Gatchalian approved the motion after no senator objected.
Vice President Sara Duterte personally attended the Senate budget deliberations to defend her office's budget.
The OVP is not requesting any confidential funds for next year. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
