Kiko Barzaga recommended to be delisted as reservist over posts vs military — Army
Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga has been recommended to be delisted as a reservist over his social media posts against the military and the police, Philippine Army spokesperson Colonel Louie Dema-ala said Tuesday.
“Following a thorough and impartial internal investigation, the Philippine Army confirms that Cavite Representative Francisco A. Barzaga is recommended to be delisted from the Reserve Force roster,” Dema-ala said in a statement.
“The decision is in response to Rep. Barzaga’s speeches and utterances on social media insinuating that the AFP, PNP, and Reservists will join the protest on 21 September 2025, declaring the loss of trust in the President by the AFP,” he added.

Dema-ala pointed out that Barzaga as a reservist violated the General Headquarters (GHQ) Standard Operating Procedure No. 07 on the enlistment, extension, and delisting of AFP Reserve Force members.
The Army official said Barzaga’s actions were classified as a grave offense of “misconduct.”
Dema-ala, however, noted that the decision is limited to Barzaga’s status within the Army’s reserve force and “has no impact on his rights as a civilian or elected official.”
“Again, we remind all active-duty personnel as well as reservists to uphold military professionalism and non-partisanship, as enshrined in the AFP Code of Ethics, ensuring that all actions do not compromise our noble profession of arms,” he said.
In a Facebook post, Barzaga shrugged off the development.
He said that being delisted as a military reservist does not make him less of a public servant.
“[President Ferdinand] Marcos [Jr.] can remove me from the Philippine Reserve Forces, but he will never remove my desire to fight for the Filipino people,” Barzaga said. — with Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
