At least 10 Discaya luxury cars taken to Bureau of Customs in Manila

Several luxury vehicles belonging to contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya have been taken from the parking area of St. Gerrard Construction in Pasig City to the Bureau of Customs in Manila.

According to the report by Jhomer Apresto of GMA Integrated News, ten luxury vehicles have been turned over to the bureau early Wednesday morning.

The BOC in early September took into custody 28 luxury vehicles linked to the Discaya family.

It later said that eight luxury cars linked to the Discayas in its custody were found to have been smuggled.

In a statement, the BOC said its investigation revealed that the eight  vehicles “were imported without any corresponding entry.”

Customs said the vehicles were classified “smuggled” and “subject to the issuance of Warrants of Seizure and Detention.”

The bureau said another seven vehicles, although covered by import entries, were also found to lack Certificates of Payment and showed deficiencies in duties and taxes.

The bureau said that the seven vehicles were subject to a transaction audit by the Post Clearance Audit Group (PCAG).

The Discayas are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the alleged misuse of billions of pesos for flood control projects. –NB, GMA Integrated News
