NDRRMC: Reported death toll due to Cebu earthquake reaches 71
The reported death toll due to the Sept. 30 magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu went up to 71, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Sunday.
These are all for validation, the NDRRMC said in its situational report.
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said it has received reports of 559 injured, all for validation as well.
Some 128,464 families or 455,631 individuals were affected by the earthquake, the NDRRMC said.
Of this number, 405 families of 1,251 individuals were served in four evacuation centers. The rest were served outside evacuation centers.
The quake also triggered two landslides in Region 7.
"A total of 8 road sections and 15 bridges were affected," the NDRRMC said. Four roads and seven bridges remained not passable on Sunday.
Meanwhile, 91 cities and municipalities had power outage. Of this number, 43 areas already had their power supply restored.
Seventeen cities and municipalities had their communication lines affected. Seven of these already had their communication lines restored.
The earthquake also affected three seaports, one of which has already become operational and resumed trips.
As of Sunday, 214 passengers in Region 7 were reported stranded.
The number of damaged houses totaled 18,154 in Region 7. Of this number, 3,507 were totally damaged.
Meanwhile, 713 infrastructure were reported damaged in Region 7.
Fifty-three cities and municipalities have so far declared a state of calamity.
A total of 116,628 families were identified to be requiring assistance costing P55,279,308.65. —KG, GMA Integrated News
