11 hurt after pickup truck with relief aid for quake victims crashes in Cebu

Eleven individuals were injured after a pickup vehicle carrying relief goods meant for earthquake victims crashed into another vehicle in Cebu.

According to a report in “24 Oras” on Monday, the pickup truck was driving down on a curved road when the mishap happened.

The passengers of the pick-up truck were delivering relief goods to their relatives in Northern Cebu, which was rocked by a powerful 6.9 earthquake last week.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck claimed that he had a problem with the vehicle’s brakes, which caused the vehicle to crash into the vehicle in front of it. The other vehicle was bound for Balamban town in Cebu.

After the first collision, the pickup truck then slammed into a nearby concrete wall, while the other vehicle flipped over as a result of the impact.

The wounded individuals are being treated in a local hospital. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
