Comelec starts printing 92 million ballots for BSKE
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday started the printing of 92 million ballots to be used for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).
Of the figures, the Comelec said 69 million will be used for the barangay elections and 23 million will be used for the sangguniang kabataan elections, according to an “Unang Balita” report.
In August, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed into law the proposed measure seeking to postpone the BSKE from December 1, 2025 to the first Monday of November 2026, and every four years thereafter.
Republic Act No. 12232 or the Act Setting the Term of Office of Barangay Officials likewise sets the term of office of all elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials to four years.
The poll body previously said more than two million Filipinos registered during the ten-day nationwide voter registration for the BSKE from August 1 to August 10, surpassing its goal of 1.5 million registrants. The voter registration will resume on October 20.
