Marcy Teodoro ready to face ICI's flood control mess probe

Marikina City 1st District Rep. Marcy Teodoro on Tuesday said he is open to facing the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) after he was linked to alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

“Gusto ko nga humarap dahil nga gusto kong malinaw. Factual naman. Dalawang buwan, tatalong buwan pa lang ako congressman bakit naisama yung pangalan ko sa mga kongresista na sinasabi nila may mga proyekto o may mga insertions? Definitely, sigurado ako wala akong insertions dahil hindi naman ako kinatawan ng distrito ko noon,” Teodoro told the media.

(I want to face the ICI to clarify things. It’s factual. I’ve been a congressman for only two to three months. Why was my name included in the names of congressmen who they say have projects or insertions? Definitely, I am sure that I don’t have any insertions because I wasn’t the representative of my district yet.)

Teodoro was among the government officials that contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya tagged in alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

He earlier branded the allegations as diversionary tactics and a "cheap shot" to destroy him. He also stressed that he never accepted money or favors in exchange for political influence or legislative action.

Teodoro's name was also included in the Department of Justice’s immigration lookout bulletin order. The travels of those listed in the ILBO are being strictly monitored by the Bureau of Immigration.

The lawmaker said he does not harbor any ill feelings after his inclusion in the ILBO. He said it was only normal after he was tagged in the controversy.

Teodoro said his camp are also studying the possibility of filing perjury charges against the Discaya couple for involving his name in the anomalous flood control projects.

“Kinukuha namin ng mabuti yung mga documento na kelangan namin at kumukuha kami ng affidavit ng mga nakadalo ng hearing para patotohan,” he said.

(We’re getting the documents we needed, and we’re also acquiring the affidavit of those present during the hearing as evidence.)

GMA News Online has reached out to the Discayas about the issue and will publish their comment once it is available.

Aside from Teodoro, 32 other lawmakers and senators were included in the ILBO, including former Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez and Sen. Francis Escudero. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
