Bongbong Marcos, Sara Duterte trust ratings down in September 2025—SWS

The trust ratings of President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte recorded a decline in September 2025, based on the results of a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey posted on Wednesday.

The survey results, commissioned by think tank Stratbase, showed that Marcos had a ''much trust'' rating of 43% for the month of September, a decrease from the 48% in June

Meanwhile, 36% of respondents said they have “little trust” of the President, and the 21% were still  “undecided.”

On the other hand, Duterte’s ''much trust'' rating was 53%, while 28% of the respondents have “little trust” of her, and 18% were undecided, polls showed.

The Vice President's trust rating in June of this year was at 61%.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, in reaction to the polls, said that Marcos is working hard to curb corruption in the country.

''Ang Pangulong Marcos, Jr. ay nakikita natin na tunay na nagtatrabaho at kumakalaban sa korapsyon. Walang humpay para umangat ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino sa gitna ng mga kalamidad na kinakaharap natin,'' Castro said in a message to reporters.

(We can see that President Marcos Jr. is working hard for the country as well as to end corruption. He is working endlessly to uplift the lives of each Filipino amidst the calamities we are facing.)

Duterte, for her part, said she remains focused on improving the services of the Office of the Vice President.

“Well, baka siguro dahil...hindi ako makapag-speculate kung ano 'yung rason ng mga kababayan natin kung bakit bumaba 'yung trust rating,” Duterte said when asked about the results on Wednesday.

(Well, maybe… I can’t speculate on the reason why our trust rating went down.)

“Pero ang masasabi ko ay committed kami sa OVP at ako ang inyong Pangalawang Pangulo na pag-iigihin pa 'yung trabaho namin at paniguraduhin na lahat ng projects na nandiyan sa loob ng OVP ay umabot sa mga unserved and underserved areas ng ating bansa at doon sa urban areas na nangangailangan,” she added.

(But what I can say is that we at the OVP, and I as your Vice President, are committed to improving our work and ensuring that all the projects under the OVP reach unserved and underserved areas of our country—and also urban areas that are in need.)

The survey was conducted from September 24 to 30, 2025, using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide: 300 in Metro Manila, 600 in Balance Luzon (or Luzon outside Metro Manila), and 300 each in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The exact question asked was: For the following, please indicate if your trust/faith in (personality) is very much, somewhat much, undecided if much or little, somewhat little, very little, or you have not heard or read anything about (personality) ever?

The sampling error margins are ±3% for national percentages, ±4% for Balance Luzon, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

When the survey was conducted, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure was already conducting its probe into the anomalies linked in the flood control projects.

On September 30, it can be recalled that Marcos also made a pronouncement that the abuse of power and greed should come to an end.

During this period, the Department of Public Works and Highways requested the Anti-Money Laundering Council to freeze billions of pesos worth of air assets registered to companies related to former Ako Bicol party-list Representative Elizaldy "Zaldy" Co and his brother Christopher Co.
