Risa Hontiveros declares nearly P19-M net worth in SALN
Senate Deputy Majority Leader Risa Hontiveros on Monday released a copy of her 2024 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), as part of her transparency efforts.
Based on her 2024 SALN, Hontiveros declared a net worth of P18.986 million. Her assets, including real and personal properties, were at P19.884 million, while her liabilities, particularly a car loan, were at P897,840.
The lady senator previously said that she fully supports the removal of the restrictions on access to public officials’ SALNs, which she described as "unjust, unconstitutional and anti-people."
She also said that opening of SALNs is a good step in strengthening the transparency and accountability amid the corruption allegations in the government.
This came after the Office of the Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla issued a memo scrapping the restriction on access to the SALN of public officials.
The Ombudsman's memo on the SALN covers the President, Vice President, the heads of constitutional offices, and local government officials, since the Ombudsman is the official repository of the SALNs of these public officials.
The new policy is a reversal of the 2020 memo issued by Remulla's predecessor, former Ombudsman Samuel Martires, who restricted the access to SALN by requiring the consent of the SALN owner for disclosure, among other restrictions. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
