ICI to livestream proceedings starting next week
The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) on Wednesday said it will livestream its proceedings on the flood control controversy beginning next week.
This was announced by ICI chairman Andres Reyes Jr. during the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights’ organizational meeting to tackle Senate Bill No. 1215, which seeks to create an Independent People’s Commission (IPC) to probe anomalies in all government infrastructure projects.
“We will try our best to be able to full blast investigation of all these fraud. We don’t have the facility, we don’t have the rules of procedure, but we will already shorten the procedure in spite of no rules allowing us, we will now go on livestream next week once we get to be able to have the technical capability with us already,” Reyes said.
Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, chairman of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights, welcomed the development.
Last month, ICI executive director Brian Keith Hosaka said hearings of the commission will not be livestreamed to avoid ‘trial by publicity’ and any political influence.
Asked to comment on the development, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said this matter lies in the hands of the ICI.
'''Yan po ay nasa kamay na ng ICI. Kung ano po ang nais nila para maipakita ang kanilang impartial proceedings ay nasa kanilang desisyon iyan,'' Castro said.
