Marcos creates inter-agency committee for sports tourism

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has created an inter-agency committee for the development and promotion of sports tourism in the Philippines.

Marcos formed the National Sports Tourism Inter-Agency Committee (NST-IAC) through Administrative Order No. 38.

“The NST-IAC is hereby created for the purpose of harmonizing, coordinating, and overseeing the development, promotion, and implementation of sports tourism initiatives,” the AO read.

The committee will also oversee the bidding for and hosting of international sporting events and the facilitation of large-scale domestic sports tourism activities.

It will be chaired by the Philippine Sports Commission while the Department of Tourism will serve as vice-chairperson.

The members will be from the Department of the Interior and the Local Government, the Department of Budget and Management, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, and two private sector representatives from the tourism sector.

The NST-IAC may invite other government agencies as well as local government units, non government organizations, civil society groups, the academe, and other stakeholders as observers and/or resource persons to aid in the performance of its duties and functions.
