Gesmundo administers oath to new CA, Sandiganbayan justices


Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo has administered the oath of office to newly appointed associate justices of the Court of Appeals (CA) and the Sandiganbayan, the Supreme Court (SC) announced on Wednesday.

According to the SC, Gesmundo administered the oaths to new CA Associate Justices Robert Victor Consunji Marcon and Snooky Maria Ana Bareno-Sagayo as well as Sandiganbayan Associate Justices Hans Chester Tiu Nocom and Fritz Bryn Anthony Makasiar Delos Santos on Tuesday at the SC Session Hall.

They were appointed on Sept. 23, 2025.

Marcon took the post of Associate Justice Fernanda Lampas Peralta after she was appointed as CA Presiding Judge.

He earned his law degree from the San Beda College of Law and has a Master of Laws Degree from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

The SC said Marcon served as presiding judge of the Lucena Regional Trial Court Branch 54 from 2013 to 2018 and as presiding judge of the Makati City Family Court Branch 3 from 2018 until his appointment.

Meanwhile, Bareno-Sagayo succeeded CA Associate Justice Jacinto Fajardo following his retirement. She earned her law degree from San Beda University.

She worked in various offices in the judiciary before serving as the presiding judge of the Pandi Municipal Trial Court from 2010 to 2016. She was the presiding judge of the Valenzuela RTC Branch 283 prior to her appointment to the CA.

Nocom, who earned his law degree from the Far Eastern University, took the post of retired Associate Justice Bernelito Fernandez. 

Prior to his appointment at the Sandiganbayan, he served as special counsel at the Manila Office of the City Prosecutor from 2014 to 2019 and as a prosecutor under the Department of Justice from 2019 to 2021.

Meanwhile, De Los Santos filled the post left by Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Econg after her appointment as Presiding Justice of the Sandiganabyan.

He earned his law degree from the University of San Carlos in Cebu and also holds a Master of Laws degree from Cornell University in New York.

He served as associate solicitor in the Office of the Solicitor General from 2014 to 2015, as court attorney in the CA in 2015, and as court attorney in the Supreme Court from 2017. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
