LOOK/ WATCH: Uwan batters parts of PH


Torrential rains and fierce winds are now battering several areas of the country as Uwan intensified into a super typhoon on Sunday morning.

More than 100 families in Masbate were placed under preemptive evacuation at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Masbate 1st District Engineering Office due to the threat of Uwan


Strong waves were observed along the shores of Sitio Gata in Caramoan, Camarines Sur.

The strong winds have also toppled several trees in the area.

As of 6 a.m., the floodwaters in Barangay San Isidro Village in Virac, Catanduanes reached almost knee level due to the storm's downpour.


Residents of Catbalogan, Samar experienced heavy rain and strong gusts of wind on early Sunday morning as different wind signals were raised in the Visayas.


Intense winds and rainfall were also observed in Daet, Camarines Norte.



Giant waves were seen engulfing some trees along the shorelines of Baybay Sisiran, Garchitorena, Camarines Sur.


At 7 a.m., Uwan was located at 125 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, carrying maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 230 km/h, and is moving west northwestward at 25 km/h. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
