Senate launches new website as part of transparency initiatives

The Senate on Tuesday unveiled its redesigned and upgraded website as part of its efforts to enhance transparency and public access on legislative documents.

Senate IT team lead Lou Galban said the new website features a modern and user-friendly design, compatible with various devices. It also has a comprehensive section on senators’ profiles and accomplishments, and capacity to host live broadcasts.

The new website also has a “Senate Assist” section, simplifying access to the medical and social assistance programs of senators, in collaboration with government agencies, public health institutions, and the private sector.

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, who led the unveiling ceremony, said the whole budget process would become more accessible to the public through the new website.

“This is what freedom of information looks like in practice—giving the citizens direct and convenient access to the work of their representatives,” Sotto said. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
