Juan Ponce Enrile still in ICU due to pneumonia, daughter says
Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile remains at a hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) where he is receiving treatment for pneumonia, his daughter Katrina said Wednesday.
Katrina Enrile gave the update on social media following the announcement on Tuesday that his father has been admitted to the ICU, saying that he “isn’t doing too good.”
“He is under the dedicated care of his attending physicians and medical staff who are providing him with the best possible treatment and attention,” Katrina said in an official statement.
She also asked for privacy as her family faces the situation.
“We are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers, and support extended to our family during this time. Thank you very much,” she added.
During the plenary session at the Senate on Tuesday, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, citing a "very reliable source," said the elder Enrile was in the ICU and has "slim chances of surviving."
The Senate offered a short prayer for Enrile during the session, led by Senator Joel Villanueva.
Enrile is currently 101 years old. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
