Bato posts photos of him seeking guidance from Cebu priest

Amid reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has allegedly issued a warrant of arrest against him, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa on Thursday shared photos of his encounter with a Cebu-based priest to “seek some guidance.”

Dela Rosa, who has been absent for the past three plenary sessions at the Senate, posted photos on Facebook with Father Crescenciano “Ciano” Ubod of the Compostela Parish Church in Cebu.

“My first personal encounter though I’ve been following him for a while already, with Father Ciano Ubod of Compostela Parish Church, Cebu. Times like these, we need to seek some guidance from our spiritual adviser,” the post’s caption read.

Dela Rosa also uploaded another photo of him holding an image of the Sto. Niño.

“My patron saint, my kabirthday always in January. Viva Pit Senior Santo Niño!” the senator said.

Last week, dela Rosa’s office said the senator went to several areas in Cebu to provide assistance to those who were affected by Typhoon Tino.

Over the weekend, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla claimed that the ICC already issued an arrest warrant against dela Rosa.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), however, said that no red notice from ICC has been received yet by the Philippine Center for Transnational Crime (PCTC).

The Department of Justice (DOJ), meanwhile, said the Philippines will implement an arrest warrant against dela Rosa if the ICC has indeed issued it.

On Wednesday, Senator Imee Marcos said dela Rosa’s wife, Nancy, is appealing to the Philippine government to follow the law and observe due process amid reports of an alleged ICC arrest order. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
