Senate mourns passing of Enrile

The Senate on Monday adopted a resolution extending its sympathies and condolences to the family of former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, who died on November 13.

Proposed Senate Resolution No. 176, taking into consideration Senate Resolution No. 177, was introduced by Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III. It was adopted during the plenary session.

All senators were made co-sponsors and co-authors of the resolution.

The Senate will hold necrological services for Enrile on Wednesday, November 19.

The necrological service will begin at 9 a.m., and only "invited guests and authorized personnel" will be permitted admission into the Senate session hall.

Enrile passed away last Thursday, November 13, at the age of 101, while receiving treatment for pneumonia.

He served four terms in the Senate, and was Senate president from 2008 to 2013.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
