NAPOLCOM: 14 cops face complaints over alleged Bacoor robbery-rape
A woman on Tuesday went to the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) to file a complaint against the 14 cops who allegedly robbed and raped her inside their home in Bacoor City, Cavite.
“Nena,” one of the complainants, said the police officers barged into her house on November 22 and robbed her, her male cousin, and his live-in partner. Nena also alleged that one of the policemen raped her.
“Sinabi na po ng team leader na siya na daw po ang bahala sa akin. Doon po ay pinalabas na po ang mga kasama niya sa aking kuwarto. Yung mga kasama niya po ay parang aware na po sila na may mangyayaring ganun po sa aming dalawa sa loob ng aking kuwarto,” Nena said in a press briefing at the NAPOLCOM.
(The team leader said that he would take care of me. He then sent his fellow cops out of my room. His companions seemed to be aware that something like that would happen between the two of us inside my room.)
“Doon po sa pagtapos po nilang lumabas ng kuwarto ay agad naman po niya akong pinasarado, pina-lock ang aking pinto,” she added.
(After they left the room, he immediately made me close and lock the door.)
The alleged rape happened inside the locked room, the complainant claimed.
Aside from Nena, her male cousin and his live-in partner also filed robbery complaints against the cops. They were staying at the same house when the alleged crime happened.
They said the policemen did not introduce themselves as law enforcers and did not show any documents such as search warrants before ransacking their home.
The police officers were not in uniform and even covered their faces with masks, the complainants added.
The cops turned out to be personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) Special Operation Unit (SOU) 4A.
On Monday, PDEG acting director Police Brigadier General Elmer Ragay said the 14 cops supposedly conducted an anti-illegal drug operation with Nena’s boyfriend as the subject. However, the suspect was supposedly able to evade arrest.
The cops allegedly arrested Nena and raped her, Ragay said.
In response, Nena said she was unaware of the illegal drugs allegations against her boyfriend.
Fifteen police personnel from the PDEG Special Operation Unit 4A were relieved from their posts. Eight of the 14 cops tagged in the incident were arrested.
The commander was also relieved from his post. He allegedly filed a leave of absence from November 25 to 28, but already left his post as early as November 22.
“Walang puwang ang panggahasa. Walang puwang ang pagnanakaw sa loob ng Philippine National Police,” NAPOLCOM chief commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan said.
(There is no room for rape. There is no room for robbery within the Philippine National Police.)
“You will contend with NAPOLCOM. Sa lahat ng mga kasama nila, sasampolan namin kayo,” he added.
