No threats monitored for November 30 protests so far —PNP

No threats have been monitored for the massive protests at Luneta Park in Manila and People Power Monument in Quezon City set for November 30

No threats have been monitored for the massive protests at Luneta Park in Manila and People Power Monument in Quezon City set for November 30, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday.

“Wala tayong natatanggap na threat. Pero patuloy po itong bahagi ng trabaho ng PNP na pagkakalap ng intelligence reports kung may threat man,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said at a press briefing.

(We have not received any threats, but the PNP continues to gather intelligence reports if there is a threat.)

“Ang ginawa po natin kaya nag-deploy tayo ng napakaraming tao para maiwasan po yung pagpasok o paggamit ng mga ibang grupo para manggulo sa supposed to be maayos na pagra-rally,” he added.

(We deploy a large number of personnel to prevent other groups from hijacking, using, or disrupting the peaceful rally.)

According to the PNP, over 15,000 personnel will be deployed in Metro Manila for the November 30 rallies.

On Monday, a coalition of religious and multi-sectoral organizations rejected calls for a change in the country's leadership during its November 30 protest against corruption and political dynasties at the People Power Monument.

Trillion Peso March Movement (TPMM) announced it is against efforts to bring down the government, establish a military junta or revolutionary government, or force the resignation of the country's leaders.

"Klaro ang ating advocacy: ang Trillion Peso March ay hindi para pabagsakin ang ating pamahalaan ngayon. We are not calling for the resignation ng ating mga pinuno ng bansa kundi ikulong, ilantad at ibalik ang nanakaw sa corruption," one of the group’s convenors, Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, said.

(Our advocacy is clear: the Trillion Peso March Movement doesn't aim to bring down the current administration or to call for the resignation of any public officials. What we want is to arrest and return the public funds lost to corruption.)

Meanwhile, Kilusang Bayan Kontra Kurakot earlier said its protest action at Luneta Park is open to anyone who wants the corrupt to be held accountable for their actions.

"Ito ay rally ng pagpapanagot. So ang mga pupunta doon na ang linya nila ay depensahan si BBM, Bring him home, protektahan si Sara, medyo you will feel very awkward, and siguro, 'wag na kayong pumunta," Bagong Alyansang Makabayan national president Teddy Casiño said.

(This is a rally demanding accountability. So if there are those attending whose lines are to defend President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, Bring Rodrigo Duterte home, or to protect Sara Duterte, you will feel very awkward. Perhaps it would be best for you not to join.)  —VAL, GMA Integrated News
