Congressmen Arrogancia, Tarriela attend ICI flood control probe
Two more lawmakers linked to the flood control projects corruption scandal attended Wednesday the hearing of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Quezon Representative Reynante Arrogancia and Occidental Mindoro Representative Leody "Ode" Tarriela both requested an executive session.
The two were among the congressmen named by contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya during a Senate hearing in September.
Both Arrogancia and Tarriela have dismissed the allegations.
Tarriela previously said the implementation of the project lies solely with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Arrogancia, for his part, has said the allegations are baseless.
Meanwhile, the ICI earlier filed another referral against former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co, along with seven other lawmakers, with the Office of the Ombudsman over 1,300 infrastructure projects from 2016 to 2024.
The ICI said the so-called "cong-tractors" appear to have violated the Code of Conduct for Government Officials and the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, among others. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
