Sara Duterte arrives in family’s ancestral home for Christmas gift-giving

Vice President Sara Duterte on Thursday morning arrived in Bangkal, Davao City in time for her family’s annual Christmas gift-giving activity in their ancestral house.

According to the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Duterte will join the holiday celebrations and personally oversee the event titled “Pasko Pahalipay sa Taal 2025.”

The Vice President was seen taking photos with attendees and signing some of their items.

The Davao City Police earlier said that more than 2,000 policemen will be deployed during the gift-giving activity of the Duterte family.

The police will focus on crowd management and the enforcement of safety protocols to ensure the event is orderly and peaceful.

Barriers were installed from the entrance of Central Park Subdivision leading to Taal Street, where the Duterte family’s ancestral house is located, according to a report of GMA Regional TV.

A stage and a large tent were also put up near the Dutertes’ ancestral home for the program.

Separate lanes for men and women have also been arranged, along with special lanes for persons with disabilities (PWDs), pregnant women, and senior citizens.

The Vice President had said the family tradition will continue this year despite the situation of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands on charges of crimes against humanity.

On November 28, the International Criminal Court (ICC) Appeals Chamber denied the appeal of Rodrigo Duterte on the rejection of his request for interim release. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
