DOH logs 414 road accidents amid holiday exodus
The Department of Health (DOH) said Monday that the number of recorded road crash incidents amid the holiday exodus has increased to over 400.
From December 21 to December 29, 2025, the DOH said a total of 414 cases of road mishaps were logged, and 305 of which involved motorcycles.
Twenty-nine were fresh cases, based on data from 10 sentinel hospitals being monitored by the agency.
Four individuals also died due to motorcycle accidents, said the DOH.
Of the total cases, 343 were found not using safety accessories such as helmet and seatbelt.
There were 58 cases also found under the influence of alcohol when they were involved in the incident.
The DOH noted that most of those who were involved were aged 15 to 29.
The department thus reminded motorcycle users to always wear a helmet approved by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and car drivers and passengers to wear a seatbelt while traveling, especially during this holiday rush.
The DOH also advised motorists not to drive when intoxicated, always follow speed limits and road signs, and ensure that drivers have 7 to 8 hours of sleep before hitting the road.
Motorists who encounter road accidents may call 911 emergency hotline or 1555 DOH emergency hotline. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
