AFP warns public vs video falsely claiming that PH reversed its security alliances
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday warned the public against a Youtube video which falsely claimed that the Philippines has turned back on its security allies – labeling it an attempt to mislead and erode Filipinos’ trust in national institutions.
In a post on its social media accounts, the AFP cautioned Filipinos against falling for the video, which contained a commentary from a supposed foreign analyst about the country’s “reversal” of its security alliances.
“This video contains false information and commentary that do not reflect official policy or actions of the AFP or the Philippine government,” the military said.
“This is a prevalent tactic used by disinformation agents to create authoritative-sounding but false narratives. Such materials are designed to mislead, sow confusion, and erode public trust in national institutions,” it added.
The AFP then reminded the public to be critical and scrutinize information that they encounter online.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant, be discerning, verify information only through official AFP and government channels, and refrain from sharing AI-generated content or unverified information from questionable sources,” the military said. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
