Over 141,000 legitimate calls handled in 2025 under Unified 911 system — PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said they have responded to more than 141,000 legitimate emergency calls from August 26 to December 31, 2025 through the Unified 911 System.

In a statement issued Friday, the PNP said the calls consisted of 36,863 reports for police-related incidents, 12,656 requests for medical assistance, and 3,248 fire-related incidents.

Other emergencies made up the rest of the 88,876 calls.

Data from the PNP showed that most calls were caused by public disturbances with 14,464 calls, followed by 12,530 calls on public safety and emergency response concerns.

Other law enforcement and judicial matters consist of 10,997 calls, and 10,371 calls were made for traffic accidents.

After the Unified 911 System was launched on September 11, 2025, the PNP said they are now operating on an average of 3 to 4.5 minutes response time.

(We can see it in the data that the Unified 911 operations are up, the response times become faster… If the information is clear and there is only one system, the movement of the police and other responders are much better.)

(Most of the calls are for accidents, sudden illnesses, and fires. In these instances, each minute is important. With a faster response, we have more lives that we can save and we can also stop the possible worsening of crimes.)

Meanwhile, the PNP reminded the public to use the Unified 911 hotline only for actual emergencies.

In November, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the hotline’s efficiency rate was at 96%.

They said that they had handled a total of 1,769,477 calls as of October 2025. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
