Over 1.4M registered to vote for 2026 BKSE —Comelec
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has reached its target of registering 1.4 million new voters more than three months after the resumption of the nationwide voter registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).
Based on the data shared to reporters, the Comelec said it processed a total of 1,468,228 voter registrations for the 2026 BSKE. Of the figures, 776,373 were women, and 691,855 were men.
Out of the total registrants, 1,113,418 were regular voters or aged 18 years old and above, and 354,810 were Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), or those 15 years old to 17 years old.
New SK registrants were at 349,508. A total of 1,231 applied to be transferred from another city or municipality, and 403 asked to be transferred within the same city or municipality.
Applications for new regular voters, meanwhile, stood at 395, 947 while those who applied for reactivation totalled at 60,206.
Registrants per region
Meanwhile, Region IV-A (Calabarzon) reported the highest number of applicants with 284,933. It was followed by Region III (Central Luzon) with 174,791, and the National Capital Region (NCR) with 166,457.
A total of 2,336 registrants applied at the Special Register Anywhere Program (SRAP) site in the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila.
The nationwide voter registration for the 2026 BSKE resumed on October 20, 2025. It will run until May 18, 2026.
Exempted from the voter registration period, however, are areas in the Bangsamoro in light of the suspension of the first-ever parliamentary polls.
Applicants may register from Monday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at any satellite registration sites or at their respective Comelec office of the election officer (OEO), according to the poll body. The voter registration period will likewise be opened in all types of applications, including:
- transfer of records
- new registration
- change of name and status
- correction of entries
- reactivation of registration records
- inclusion of registration records,
- and reinstating of name in the list of voters
The Comelec earlier said it is targeting to register 1.4 million new voters for the 2026 BSKE during the months-long nationwide registration.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in August, signed into law the proposed measure seeking to postpone the BSKE from December 1, 2025 to the first Monday of November 2026, and every four years thereafter.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
