Interpol asked for more info on red notice request for Zaldy Co — NBI

The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has requested additional information from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) regarding its request to issue a red notice for former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co, an official said Thursday.

"Clarification lang po ito (This is just a clarification). It's a normal thing that from time to time, the Interpol would be directing to submit information," NBI spokesperson Palmer Mallari said.

"So normal po ito na nangyayari na mayroong ganyang supplemental information being questioned," he later added.

(So it's normal to have questions with regard to supplemental information.)

Mallari said the NBI may submit the additional information on or before February 11.

The NBI sought the issuance of an Interpol red notice against Co in December 2025 after the former congressman was declared a "fugitive from justice" by the Sandiganbayan.

This was over the malversation and graft charges filed against him over a P289-million substandard road dike project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

According to the Interpol, a red notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person who is wanted by a requesting member country or an international tribunal pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
